Lockdown
We have been on lockdown around here for the past 2 weeks, going on week 3 now. 2 weeks ago, Nathan got your standard cold, runny nose and congestion. That lasted a week and as soon as that cleared up, he got a double ear infection and HFMD (hand, foot and mouth disease). I have no idea how he got that since we were not around any kids since he had the cold. I don't know who out there has experienced HFMD with their kids, but Nathan was MISERABLE. He had high fever for a few days with a sore throat and then developed sores all in his mouth and on his feet. The poor little guy couldn't sleep well or eat anything solid. He was pretty lethargic for most of the week. Today has been a good day. He has eaten solid food today and from what I can tell (he hates it when I try to look in his mouth) his sores are clearing up. I think we are definitely on the up swing....which is a good thing cause we leave for vacation in florida this saturday! So needless to say that we are on lockdown again this week even if he is feeling better so that he doesn't catch anything else before we leave. We are both going stir crazy around here! This vacation to florida will be much needed by all of us!

"Pre"- Introducing........
Andrew Joshua John........yep we're having another boy!!!

Sorry the pics are so small. The third one is the money shot. Literally within 2 seconds of the sonogram, he exposed himself. haha We are both really excited and if Nathan knew what was going on then I know he'd be ecstatic to have a little brother. At first I was sure we were having a girl, but in the past month I have come to the realization that we are having a boy....and I was right. I am surprised that I really wasn't upset or disappointed at all when we found out it was a boy. It's gonna be mayhem around here, but it will be lots of fun having two boys. Hopefully they will entertain each other, but I might as well go ahead and get a referee jersey and whistle ready!
Baby pool on a budget......
No really, we're not on that tight of a budget. We just haven't had a chance to go get him a baby pool yet and wanted to take advantage of the warmer weather. :-)
Here's another pic of him having fun getting hosed down:

Ready to Swim
I bought Nathan a swimsuit the other day. I wanted to get him the kind of swimsuit that has a floatation device built into the suit cause knowing this kid, he will not keep floaties on his arm or any other part of his body if he can reach it and take it off. He's also so adventurous and has no fear so being around a pool with this kid will be interesting. I really liked this suit cause the floatation device is removable so he doesn't have to have a big bulky swimsuit for the sprinkler in the backyard. I don't know if his daddy was so thrilled about him wearing a full swimsuit as opposed to just swim trunks, but I like it cause it protects more skin from the sun. Anyways, enough rambling about a swimsuit, here's a pic of him:

Our trip to Dallas
We just returned from spending a week in Dallas with my parents. Jake had to work in Dallas all week so we decided to hitch a ride with him so Nathan could spend some time with his grandparents. He had a fun time at the grandparents house. He was able to open up all their cabinets and play with the dishes (something he can't do at home) and he had plenty of new things to discover (like my brother's guitars). My youngest brother turned 18 last weekend and we had a little cookout for him. Nathan got to play with his little cousins (well 2nd cousins) for the first time. My cousin has a newborn and a 2 year old. Nathan tried real hard to play with the newborn which was sweet. Nathan and his 2 yr old cousin had fun together and got along well. I got a little preview of things to come when I held the newborn and Nathan came up to me and kept pulling on my skirt begging me to pick him up. :-)

Fun day at the park
Boy I'm blog happy today......this is the last one I think.......
Yesterday we got together with our friends at a local park for a little picnic and play time. Nathan had a BLAST. He got really dirty and got lots of snacks and juice......every little boys dream. haha He loved watching the big kids run around the park and wandering off exploring everything. This kid is NOT shy AT ALL. I wish he were a little more hesitant around strangers, but he's not. He definitely has his daddy's personality when it comes to the social scene. I think he's gonna be a little politician one day cause he was going around giving strangers high fives and playing with their toys. He really wore himself out and between the grapes and juice, he had an explosion diaper on the way home.....yikes!

The Final Cake
We had our last cake class last week where we learned how to make the infamous Wilton Rose. It was pretty tough to learn. I think the consistency of the icing is of utmost importance to get right. We didn't even get to actually decorating our cakes cause we spent the whole class practicing our roses......so I spent the next couple days at home decorating. I had lots of fun in this class, but I think I need a little break from making cakes! :-) Here's my loud and busy rose cake:
